REFUND RAFFLE #16
for the good works of volunteers with
Greyhound Rescue & Rehab
Drawing: Sunday, November 23, 2008 at 6:00PM

Featured in Greyhounds in Art '08 at Dewey Beach, for a price of $550, Susan Lewis' work of art, "Table Runners" was left unsold. So we've decided upon another way for it to earn money for greyhounds, just in time for your holiday tables! We've moved the drawing to Sunday instead of Monday in order to send it to you by Express Mail in time for Thanksgiving.

You could almost apply a name to each of the 20 dogs in Ms. Lewis' tapestry
to remind you to give thanks for the volunteers who take in injured greyhounds like these at GRR:

It is noteworthy to us at Northcoast Greyhounds that this group began just after we did in 1999,
and since that time, have adopted out over 730 greyhounds. Impressive!
Especially since so many of those they take in are injured racers- ten last year, all cared for in foster homes. This group doesn't have kennels.

The area of NY and CT where GRR concentrates their efforts is a costly one for veterinary care and even with the multiple fundraisers for Knuckles, bills remain unpaid. Paula, a newly injured girl recovering from surgery and complications from it, may require yet another surgery. Wouldn't it make a wonderful Thanksgiving gift to help them with some bills? And dress up your holiday table at the same time?

It's impossible to photograph anything that's 8 foot long and 18 inches wide
and do it justice in this little space- let's try another version:

When we commissioned "Table Runners" from Susan Lewis, we asked for "natural colors" that would appeal to the majority of our shoppers, thus the raw silk background is a celery color with champagne edges, and the dogs are as close to natural greyhound colors as one can come with fabric- Ms. Lewis' use of tweeds and textures for brindles is brilliant!

GRR's location is within three hours of both Raynham/Taunton Greyhound Park and Wonderland Greyhound Park in Massachusetts. They're an all-volunteer organization with 501(c)3 qualifications. If you're not interested in purchasing raffle tickets, perhaps you'll consider helping GRR with their extensive and ongoing veterinary costs and click the running greyhound on GRR's front page to make a direct contribution.

Every dollar you spend on this raffle will assist Greyhound Rescue and Rehabilitation. Northcoast Greyhounds covers the cost of all items raffled, postage to the winners, and all PayPal or credit card fees involved.
And then we round-up!

What's a "REFUND RAFFLE"?
Each raffle in this series will run approximately 3 weeks. We hope that if you continue to purchase tickets in upcoming raffles, too, you'll eventually WIN one of our more extravagant items, but if you don't, you will at least take comfort in the fact that at some point, if you've accumulated receipts for more than $250 in ticket purchases,
We'll return $50 of your raffle dollars directly to your own adoption group!
